	LT. COMMANDER TOM MARKEL PLAYED BY: James Doohan SPECIES: Human Senior officer and commander of the U.S.S. Ariel. When three members of the crew went missing on Lactra VII, Lt. Commander Markel beamed the remaining three crewmembers down to the planet to search for them. Too late to save the original three, Markel and his landing party were captured by the Lactrans and put on display in their zoo.
	RANDI BRYCE PLAYED BY: Majel Barrett SPECIES: Human Biologist of the U.S.S. Ariel. She, along with Lt. Commander Markel and Lieutenant Randolph were captured by the Lactrans and placed in captivity.
