	CARTER WINSTON/VENDORIAN PLAYED BY: Ted Knight SPECIES: Vendorian A Vendorian who cared for the real Carter Winston when he crashed on the planet Vendor until his death. Among the Vendorians, he was useless, only able to perform tasks of the lowest order. When the Romulans offered him a chance to be a spy for them, he accepted as a way of becoming useful. Assuming the form of Captain Kirk, he ordered the Enterprise to cross into the Romulan Neutral Zone where the ship could be seized by the Romulans. However, assuming the form of Carter Winston endowed him with the mindset and feelings of the real man and soon found that he couldn't allow the Romulans to harm the crew of the Enterprise. He transformed himself into a deflector shield and placed himself between the Federation ship and the Romulans, allowing them to force Romulans to retreat. Forced to stand trail for his actions, Captain Kirk promised to recommend to the trail board that his defense of the ship would be taken into consideration.
	LIEUTENANT ANNE NORED PLAYED BY: Nichelle Nichols SPECIES: Human Security officer onboard the U.S.S. Enterprise and Carter Winston's fiancee. When the Vendorian-Winston boarded the Starfleet ship, he recommended that Anne forget about him, since the real Carter Winston's mindset and feelings became prevalent within him. When Captain Kirk ordered the Vendorian kept under guard, Nored volunteered to watch over him so she could be with Carter again, or at least, a part of him.
	ROMULAN COMMANDER PLAYED BY: James Doohan SPECIES: Romulan Enlisted the Vendorian posing as Carter Winston to sneak aboard the Enterprise and pilot the ship into the Romulan Neutral Zone where he could lay claim to the Federation ship as per the terms of the Treaty of Algeron.
